Seed Collection

Open Gallery

Landcare Services has been collecting and supplying Western Australian native seed to the mining, plantation, construction and nursery industry since 1990.  The majority of our current projects are for the mining industry, collecting local provenance seed for use in rehabilitation.  This is a key tool for mining companies striving to achieve species richness, plant abundance and completion criteria in rehabilitation activities.

Landcare Services have been involved in a number of seed salvaging projects prior to ground disturbance for construction in the mining and government sectors.  We are able to produce large amounts of seed in a short period of time when required.

Seed Cleaning and Storage Services

SeedLab (a division of Landcare Holdings Pty Ltd) can offer all of your seed cleaning and storage services.  Please visit seedlab.com.au for detailed information.

Revegetation Planning

Open Gallery

Landcare Services are able to design a revegetation plan to suit your requirements.  We can provide guidance on plant growth material selection, site preparation techniques, and erosion or weed management risks and recommend seed and seedling lists appropriate for your site.

Waste Dump rehabilitation planning and implementation

Open Gallery

Landcare Services can assist with the planning and implementation of waste dump rehabilitation.  We can assist by compiling plant species lists that are likely to establish and survive in conditions that can be challenging for vegetation establishment.

Any species planning for waste dump rehabilitation is complimentary to a materials characterisation program that is essential to determine the capacity of the growth medium to support plant growth and survival.

Landcare can also develop completion criteria, which is linked with the vegetation characteristics of analogous vegetation communities that may have similar materials characterisation as the constructed landform.

Landcare can also implement seeding programs on your site efficiently and accurately.

Rehabilitation Monitoring

Open Gallery

Landcare Services are able to design and implement monitoring programs to assess the success of your revegetation program against its goals and objectives.

Monitoring techniques offered include:

  • quadrat monitoring (measure of species richness, plant abundance, projective foliage cover, reproductive status),
  • measurement of growth, survival and reproductive status of seedlings, and
  • annual photographic monitoring.

Weed Management Planning and Mapping

Open Gallery

Weed management can be a costly ongoing maintenance liability if not assessed and managed early in the life of a project.

Landcare Services can provide a comprehensive weed management planning and mapping service for your site.

We will:

  • Identify and map the weeds on site,
  • Nominate species that may rapidly colonise,
  • Design a management plan to reduce the risk of weed invasion into key operational, environmental and rehabilitation areas.

This is particularly important during the start-up phase of a project, where weed risk identification is vital.
